We went to see the caldera lake of Mt. ZAO called “OKAMA”. Unfortunately, we could not see it due to fog. Next, we went on a boat trip down the Mogami River. It is said that a poem written by Emperor Showa about the Mogami River became the Yamagata Prefecture folk song. Finally, we went to Yamadera Temple, famous for Basho’s haiku “Silence and the sound of cicadas seeping into the rocks”. I climbed 1000 steps and my legs still hurt today.
